2023 State of the Talent Acquisition Professional Report

Our annual report on compensation and employment trends impacting Talent Acquisition Professionals.

We are excited to announce the release of our first compensation survey report. We surveyed 248 talent acquisition professionals from 10 countries. The survey ran from November 1, 2022 to January 15, 2023. This report provides valuable insights into current compensation trends and the overall state of job satisfaction among professionals.


Compensation 

The one thing our community wants to better understand is compensation. Given the current economic climate it was no surprise to find that:

  •  45% of  respondents are unsure or do not feel they are compensated fairly as compared to their peers.
  • The average salary for professionals in the OneReq Community is slightly over $132,000. 
  • It’s useful to note that OneReq’s community – as well as our survey participants – work in the technology sector and/or reside in San Francisco, which likely skews salaries higher than they would be if respondents were from more diverse areas. 

Notable average salaries were Head of Functional Area ($164,411.84), People Manager ($145,841.03), IC Recruiter ($111,610.24)

Job Satisfaction 

Our data indicates that talent acquisition professionals are satisfied with their career choice – even though there are some things they’d like to improve.

  • The vast majority of respondents are very (36%) or somewhat Satisfied (47%) with their recruiting careers 
  • 70% of respondents saw themselves working in recruiting in the next two years.
  • 93% of respondents would recommend recruiting as a career

Furthermore, many respondents expressed dissatisfaction with company leadership, and feeling valued by their employer.


Looking Forward 

We look forward to growing the number of respondents and  producing this report annually. Our goal remains to provide valuable insights for our community members both from an R4R standpoint and for individual compensation equity. If you are hiring recruiters use the data to ensure they are offering competitive compensation packages and creating a positive work environment. Members should also use the data to better understand their market value and negotiate for fair compensation and benefits.
