U.S. Jobs Report Key Takeaways

  • The unemployment rate stood at 3.5%, slightly lower than expected, with  job gains in health care, social assistance, financial activities, and wholesale trade.
  • Job growth in July fell short of expectations, indicating a potential slowdown in the U.S. economy, though not necessarily a recession, according to the Labor Department’s report.
  • Nonfarm payrolls increased by 187,000, slightly below the anticipated 200,000, but still an improvement from the revised June figure of 185,000.

OneReq Connect: London Recap

Our first EMEA community event was a hit! We brought together over 25 community members to discuss on-campus recruitment strategies, diversity hiring, and scaling programs for global companies in regions across the world. It was amazing to have conversations from an EMEA first perspective! Our event drew a lot of interest and the highlight as always was the networking. We will be back in London this Fall/Winter with a OneReq Connect bringing together industry recruiters.

H1 2023 Benchmarking Survey | University Recruiting

The results are in! Our H1 Benchmarking Survey (formerly URx Benchmarking Survey) represents 46 companies in the University Recruiting/Emerging Talent field. 
 Key Takeaways:

  • Nearly 70% of respondents leverage a rubric, leveling guide or job architecture framework to evaluate intern performance. 
  • 54% of respondents experienced a decrease in 2023 intern headcount from 2022. ‘
  • Of those who hire new grads, 59% experienced a decrease in 2023 new grad headcount from 2022. Of those who hire new grads, 16% of respondents have had to rescind new grad offers
  • 48% of respondents are partnering with diversity-focused organizations (decreased from the 62% we saw in Q4 2022).4
