OVERVIEW: The D. E. Shaw group seeks an individual with an excellent record of academic and professional achievement to lead and manage campus recruiting. The role offers the opportunity to devise and introduce new and innovative approaches to engaging campus-level talent across all businesses of the firm in an inclusive, engaging, and collaborative working environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: The campus recruiting manager will lead a team responsible for designing and executing the firm’s campus-facing recruitment activities and internship programming. They’ll work with business partners and recruiting team colleagues across technology and fundamental investing/trading groups, along with our generalist program, to design an event and outreach strategy that meets the talent needs of the business. As the firm’s primary liaison for our university engagement efforts, this may include leading our strategy for informational events and scholastic competitions, collaborating with student organizations or faculty, and engaging in direct outreach with high-potential candidates. The campus recruiting manager will be responsible for all aspects of executing this strategy, including event planning and logistics, advertising/promotion, and staffing. They will also play an important role in shaping recruitment-related branding and messaging, working in collaboration with the firm’s external communications team. While the firm has a well-established campus recruiting strategy, this role offers substantial scope for innovation and creativity in seeking out new ways to reach the most high-potential candidates.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Candidates should have at least six years of professional experience, including time spent as a member of a high-performing campus recruiting team or as a frequent participant or collaborator in campus recruiting activities.
• A demonstrated ability to use data to drive strategy and a collaborative approach to problem solving are both essential.
• Experience supervising or managing junior team members is strongly preferred. • Critical thinkers with a capacity for creativity and excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills are highly sought after. • We welcome applicants with varying degree levels (BA, BS, MS, Ph.D.) from any field of study.
