In this OneReq Connect we took a hands-on adventure into the world of ChatGPT and how to use it in Recruiting. Featuring the electric and hilarious speaker, Jim Stroud, who presented on several ways you can use ChatGPT and give a guided lesson on writing a successful prompt.

Keys to Writing an Excellent Prompt

  • Be clear and concise. The prompt should be clear and concise so that the tool knows exactly what you are asking for. Avoid using slang, informal language, jargon, or technical terms the tool may not understand.
  • Be specific. The more specific you are in your prompt, the more likely the tool is to generate a relevant and informative response. Instead of writing “give me a boolean string for diverse candidates” write “I’m looking for software engineer candidates in New York who came from HBCU.”
  • Use examples. If possible, use examples to help the tool understand what you are looking for. For example, if you ask for a list of famous scientists, you could provide a few examples, such as Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Stephen Hawking.
  • Be patient. It may take a few tries to get the right response from the tool. If you are unsatisfied with the first response, try rephrasing the prompt or providing more examples.
